My First Blog Post

My First Blog Post

Hey there, welcome to my first blog post. For those who don’t know me, my name is Sam (short for Samantha) and I recently got married to my best friend, Alex. We have the cutest puppy together, a chug (pug chihuahua mix) named Marley. We both work decent full-time jobs and from an outside view, we seem to have it all together. The only problem is, I realized I don’t want us to live the typical suburban life. People frequently ask, when are you buying a home? when are you having kids and settling down? and the only thing I can think of is how much of the world I haven’t seen.

With that said, I’ve decided on November 2nd… why that day, I don’t know, that I was going to travel as much as I could without quitting my job, since I need the financial support. That day I made my Instagram account with some of my recent travels. I started making connections and have already met so many amazing and inspiring people in less than a month! This showed me how many kind people are out there and how many of those people are just like me.

Within a week I began to research and then set up a website which was no easy task for me to figure out how to do.  It turns out, I am by no means tech savvy, but despite some frustration and trial and error, I was able to create what I set out to do and “ta-da” my website was born!

Within a week of making my new account I have already booked two trips and visited 4 parks near me that have been on my bucket list to visit. I decided to start this blog to not only inspire myself, but to also show others that weekend warrior travels are possible, even with a full-time job like mine.

I’ve never blogged, built a website or had any type of public social media presence outside of close friends and family, so I can’t promise any of it will be good, but hopefully if you do decide to follow my journey, at the very least you can learn from the many mistakes I am sure to make. After I fall flat on my face a few times I hope to be able to inspire you to follow your dreams, provide some cool traveling tips and make some great connections with like minds. Stay tuned!

  1. Wow! Congratulations!
This is actually really inspiring for me. I too am in the process of starting a travel blog. I already have my regular one (this one). However, I have a lot of ideas as well as an imagine of exactly how I want this new blog to look. It is about students being able to travel. I started the Instagram for the blog on the 26th October and I’ve bought my domain name and started putting together the blog. Yet, I’m not done and it isn’t published. I’m so impressed that you did all of this in a month.
I am forever being held back by my desire for perfection. It continues to hinder my progress. I feel like after reading this post, I’m going to try to let go of some of my decisions. Originally, I had my launch date as October, then the 23rd December and I just pushed it into January/Feb.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your travels!! Your pup is super cute!

    1. I am so glad I could inspire you. And girl, don’t push back that date! I watched a YouTube video by Tyler Moore – how to build a wordpress website-updated and it helped me so much! I think the most important stuff is the content, you can always work on the aesthetics as you go 😊 Looking forward to seeing your website up sooner rather than later!
